The refuge of Certascan its located in a fantastic balcony at the head of the Vall de Cardós, in the heart of the Natural Park of the Alt Pirineu, the origins of the refuge must be sought on October 19, 1975, the date of the inauguration of the equipment as to shelter saved. Previously, however, the FECSA electrical company had built the building, due to the hydroelectric works that were made in the area. Almost two decades after its start-up as a refuge, the FEEC made a significant improvement to the equipment in 1993. Since then thousands of hikers spend every summer for this emblematic building, located next to the drain of Certascan pond, one of the largest in the Pyrenean mountain range.
